Last October 2007, I had talked about Missouri’s first hydrogen fueling station being built in Rolla that would transport soldiers aboard H2ICE shuttle buses from Fort Leonard Wood to the surrounding communities. On August 19, 2008 the official ribbon cutting ceremony will occur on the University of Missouri of Science and Technology (S&T) campus.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will coincided with the Hydrogen Road Tour 2008 in which a caravan of H2 fuel cell and H2ICE vehicles will come to town in a stop that started in Portland, Maine and ends in Los Angeles, California.
The road tour will come from Smyrna, TN to Fort Leonard Wood, MO and then onto Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri. After the ribbon cutting ceremony and hydrogen vehicle display (including presumably a public ride and drive of the vehicles), the next stop will be Sandia Science and Technology Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony at Missouri S&T, two hydrogen shuttle buses used at Fort Leonard Wood will also be on display to the public. This “Show Me the Road to Hydrogen” will also be the future site of the DOE’s EcoCAR Challenge.
