Harvest Energy Technology (HET) of Sun Valley, California has received a contract from the Chinese Petroleum Corporation of Taiwan to deliver 100 Nm3/h hydrogen generators. The generators use methane steam reforming technology to extract the hydrogen.

The hydrogen will be used for fuel in the development of fuel cell technology within the transportation industry in Taiwan. HET’s hydrogen generator stations currently refuel three hydrogen fuel cell buses and twelve hydrogen cars in Oakland, California in conjunction with the Chevron Corporation.

Besides fueling cars and buses, the hydrogen generated by HET’s hydrogen generators could also conceivably be used to refuel fuel cell scooters as well. Taiwan motorcycle manufacturer, Taigene Electric Machinery unveiled its fuel cell scooter at the 2007 International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo, in Tokyo on February 9, 2007.
