Honda is making an effort to create a successful launch with fuel cell car technology. In this series, they are now ready to bring another version of the CR-V crossover into the market by the year 2024. This vehicle is being designed at the Ohio facility and it is expected to serve as a replacement for the traditional Clarity Fuel Cell, a widely purchased hydrogen-powered sedan in California between the years 2017 to 2020.
The great news is that this new model from Honda is also expected to have a plug-in capability for a battery pack that will lead to easy access to the electric-only range at a small level without being relied on the full hydrogen supply. The inner and outer appeal of this new fuel-cell vehicle is expected to be almost the same as the standard CR-V with a slight difference in trim, badging, taillights, and headlights. The fuel cell mechanism of this vehicle turns hydrogen into electricity with improved power capacity.
The same as Clarity, the power unit in this vehicle is placed under the hood and the boxier SUV shape of the CR-V is expected to assist with convenient interior packaging. Therefore, the five-seat interior of the gas model will be preserved with a roomy layout. The hydrogen tank for this vehicle will be placed in the rear which may reduce the cargo space by some level.
Honda believes that this FCEV technology powered by renewable sources can play an important role in maintaining sustainable transportation in the long run because it doesn’t release any CO2 gas and the only by-products from electricity generation are heat and water. Moreover, the convenience to maintain refueling infrastructure for these vehicles can ensure enhanced travel convenience to the customers in comparison to conventional automobiles.
Honda is also planning to reduce the environmental impact of its business operations as well and in order to lead this goal, they are setting up a virtual power purchase agreement for wind and solar power solutions in the long run. These environmentally responsible practices of Honda have made it one of the most preferred choices of customers over the years.
The recent FCEV car from Honda will come to the market with a new plug-in hydrogen concept that can allow customers to charge their CR-V vehicle with a plug-in hybrid battery pack. Although this would limit the driving range but the fuel cells may ensure enhanced flexibility.
The fuel-cell CR-V is soon expected to join the series of Hyundai Nexo and Toyota Mirai as powerful hydrogen vehicles to be sold in the United States. More information on this latest vehicle from Honda will be released in the coming month and production will start in the year 2024. Those who are planning to switch to electric vehicles in the near future can count on this powerful launch from Honda.
