UK Fuel Cell Hydrogen Bus to Cost $190,000

Hydrogen Buses Hydrogen Vehicles

A Welsh fuel cell minibus known as the Hydrogen Bus, has been unveiled for the first time in the United States in Anaheim, California. This same Hydrogen Bus was unveiled for the first time ever in October in the United Kingdom.

The Hydrogen Bus is capable of carrying 16-passengers and has a top speed of 55 mph and a range of 150 miles, which makes it especially suited for carrying faculty and students around the campus of the University of Glamorgan in Wales, starting March 2008.

The hydrogen minibus is also a tribrid vehicle, powered by fuel cells, batteries and an ultracapacitor. This zero emissions hydrogen bus also comes with the price tag of only $190,000 when Dragon Coachworks develops the commercial version for Europe and the United States.

This price tag flies in the face of all of the hydrogen vehicle naysayers who say that fuel cell vehicles are too expensive, quoting price tags in the range of $500,000 to $2 million per vehicle. As development progress and economies of scale and mass production kicks in the prices will come down even more.

  1. dear sir
I am working for a clean development project in a capital city of 2,3 million people. We have a budget that perhpas can cover the costs of the vehicle and de needed infrastructure to provide the bus the needed H2 gas generators and its fueling infraestructure.
could you give me complete pricetag of the whole system?
    sincerely
